Master Sand Sculpting Competition underway in Hampton

CAN DO ALL OF THIS.>>I WAS HERE THIS MORNING. THEY WERE HALF OF WHAT THEY ARE
NOW. CHERISE: 10 MASTER SCULPTORS,
FIVE FROM THE U.S. AND FIVE FROM
CANADA CREATING SCULPTURES OUT
OF SAND. THEY DO NOT USE THE SAND HERE
FOR THESE COMPETITIONS. THEY BRING IN SPECIAL SAND FROM
A QUARRY IN HUDSON. YOU CAN SEE IT IS COMPACT. THIS IS WHAT THE BEACH SAND
LOOKS LIKE.>>HARD AND SHARP SAND. CHERISE: THESE ARTISTS ARE WELL
KNOWN IN THEIR CRAFT. THIS IS MY TRIBE. THESE CARVERS. AN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY OF
PEOPLE. WE ARE FAMILY.>>KURT IS THE SCULPTOR THAT
FIRST INTRODUCED ME TO SAND. HE BOUGHT ME MY FIRST TROWEL. CHERISE: MORGAN IS THE EMCEE. THEY WILL BE MEMORIALIZING A
FRIEND ALONG WITH THE AWARDS
BEING HANDLED OUT. MICHELLE PASSED AWAY THIS YEAR
AND THEY ARE SCULPTING THIS
