John J. Bedoya: Artist Profile

I believe that art must bring something to light That which we cannot, or refuse to see Art is like a testimony of what’s occurring It’s an evidence, “Something’s happening there, look.” With my landscapes, I’m trying to make you think about about violence, about deforestation, about our irresponsible treatment of nature I’ve found that I want texture to communicate my feelings I’ve used sacks, pots, shovels, shoes, machetes.. and I’m sure I will find more. It’s complicated because these are not noble materials, I mean they don’t have a pictorial nature but they have been very useful for my aesthetic curiosity The process requires time requires an investigation, an exploration, and experimentation The material’s reaction, their behavior It’s something very rewarding.
